I imported some of these over 8 years ago, and found them to be amazing fish. Â Very friendly , SUPER responsive and active, and extremely hardy and robust. Â They were called “black comets”, but I understood them to be a hybrid of sorts. Â I verified that they are a koi/comet hybrid when I visited China. Â I also discovered that they’ve become extremely popular in the European market. Â The creator of this fish has finally given it a proper name…. Ebony scissortail. Â These can get large showy broad tails on them as they grow, but will not get nearly as big as Koi. Â I have some that are about 9 years old, and they are about 18 inches with huge tails. Â Very unique and interesting fish, and much more hardy than most fancies. Â Photos don’t do them justice. Â This one has a very nice broad tail.
